TLL Adult Review: Vamp Marilyn

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Hot:

Every silicone dildo company needs a generic penis-shaped dildo, but that doesnt mean I have to like it. I’m talking about the Vamp Marilyn. Marilyn is firm, slim, pretty, and without balls. On the site, one potential color combo is aqua and purple, which is gorgeous and what I had hoped mine might look like. Alas, my Marilyn is a swirled black and silver. There’s a small hole in the base sized for use with a bullet vibrator. It’s seven straight inches long by one and a half inches in girth. The length works well for me (with my belly), but I do find myself wishing for an upward curve to work with the g-spot, and to keep it angled upright when strapped on. For that, though, there’s Talula.
I thought Marilyn would be right up my alley, a basic that everyone needs, like a little black dress or Doc Martins. It turns out that while she’s plenty long enough, she’s not wide enough for my tastes and while I like the look of a straight shaft, I miss the curve of other dildos. A lot of harness compatible dildos have some curve, or some widening at the head, but Marilyn’s head is just the same width as the shaft. Even the upward angle of Talula is welcome to Marilyn’s bland figure.
Beginners, and those who do not like any kind of texture might appreciate the smooth shaft and slenderness of Marilyn. The slenderness and length also could make it a good choice for intermediate anal play. Or you might choose to pass on Marilyn and look through Vamp’s pages and find something with a different size and shape, more to suit your needs. To be fair, the description states that Marilyn is a “simple, all purpose dildo,” and she is. If you were a beginner with no dildos at all and you needed something you could use for anal if you so chose but also wanted something suitable for vaginal penetration, you might choose Marilyn.
I had thought the Leo by Vixen was a lot bigger or girthier than Marilyn, but the truth is they’re the same girth. Leo is actually slightly shorter, overall. Leo’s realistic curve is appealing, and the slightly softer silicone of Leo lends to an ever so slightly more realistic motion. They’re both basic, penis-shaped dildos, but Leo pulls it off a little better. The Marilyn is very straight, very smooth, very bland. The biggest difference is that Marilyn’s head is the same width as the rest of her body, while Leo’s head is 1/4 inch larger in circumference. It seems like it’s not that much, but it is, I assure you. Look at the proof.
I’m not doing a bullet list for Marilyn as it is much the same as that of Talula. Use waterbased lube only. Sterilize by boiling, rinsing with a 10% bleach solution, or tossing on the top shelf of the dish washer (without soap and without dishes). Use condoms when you share toys. Marilyn’s going to fit in most or all harnesses. Don’t point a dildo directly at another person while both persons are in motion. Er, wait… maybe you should do that last one. Either way, head over and check out Vamp’s offerings. If Marilyn seems bland, try Elvis! (He’s got balls.)Similar Posts:

Is this true attraction?

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Hot:

I am pretty confused right now. There is a girl I work with who has expressed her feelings for me and I am totally cool with that. However, I’m not quite sure how I feel about her. She is a really great girl whom I have fun with and share interests with. We both enjoy outdoor sports and all sorts of music. The one thing I’m scared about, though, is that she’s bisexual and I don’t want her choosing dick over chick and screw me over. She has a guy friend whom is really attracted to her and whenever we hang out, I get really jealous of him because he has his hands all over her. Before I came out, I would semi-force myself in to liking guys and being attracted to their attraction for me. With this girl, it doesn’t feel the same. Is that because it’s true attraction with her? Or is there simply nothing there? Anyway, if any of you have advice for me, PLEASE share it. She might/will be my first girlfriend and I hers.

Md Marriage Acknowledgement points up for divorce reform

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

For many couples. the opinion of Maryland Attorney General asserting the equal treatment of out-of-state same-sex marriages has led to an unhappy inquiry into state divorces statutes, to ensure that marital rights are not enforced by an estranged spouse.  While the statutory requirement of 12 months' residence in the state is not unusual, the particular claims required of a divorce filing are.  For starters, Maryland provides for no amicable divorce–couples must be living apart for at least a year or one party must be charged by the other with abuse, neglect, or adultery.  And when it comes to adultery, the definition is limited to heterosexual extramarital contact, thereby putting that charge out of the reach of spouses betrayed by same-sex extramarital affairs.

I’ll Buy That For a Dollar!

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

…but only a dollar - because, so sayeth I, that's all its worth.
[Corporate Christianist Republican Fox 'News' fembhot Megan] Kelly was discussing tort reform with [Rep.] Debbie Wassermann-Schultz and dove into the twilight zone by arguing that if her arm was cut off, it really wasn't worth all that much as long as you can still function. And what the hell? It's only an arm. I mean how much of an impact does it have on your life if you one are when you have a back up, right?
Kelly: this is a CNN poll and thy ask people about tort reform and 66% of those asked said they favor limiting the amount of money patients can get if they win a medical malpractice lawsuit. 66 % want that. 33 % don't want that. Why can't there be an agreement on tort reform?
Schultz: They support that until it's them or their family member that is injured in a medical malpractice suit and then the poll numbers change.
Kelly: You just have to limit the economic damage, in other words you, if a doctor cuts my arm off. I can get the money back from what my life is to live like without this arm so I can function. You can't get punitive damages.

Okay, I know…
Some people out there hate lawyers - and some of those have valid reasons to so hate.  Hey - some days, I've even been known to hate myself.
Which means, yes…
I'm a lawyer, so I can be viewed as having something of a vested interest in all of this.
But please do some research - preferably in actual books, and not exclusively via Google or Wikipedia.  Find out what life was like for the non-elite before courts were as 'open' as they are now - and before what we now call 'negligence' was accepted as a cause of action.
Oh wait…
That would entail the orgasmatrons of Fox 'News' giving a damn about anyone outside their financial/racial/visual appeal class.
Silly me.

Sappho Speaks: What If the World Were Gayle and Oprah? Part Deux

Sappho Speaks: What If It Really Is Gayle And Oprah, Part DeuxWhat Would Sappho Say?
Lectori Salutem! or L.S. (Greetings to the Reader!)
I know it’s been a long running joke in the lesbian community but we all know it is just wishful thinking, but let’s take that wish on into fruition and live in this world for a little while. I think we would find 2009’s political landscape much different for gay men and women.
Anyone who has watched Oprah grow (pun intended) over the years knows she is not someone to sit in silence on any issue. She is not a sideline player; she is a stand up and be counted, use her political clout when necessary, get the job done kind of woman we have all grown to respect, if not love over the last 25 years in broadcast television. She is certainly the undeniable QUEEN of the TALK SHOW and has taken on topics and people rivaling the great Barbara Walters – no disrespect Madam Walters.
So, what if all these years Oprah and her BFF Gail King were also lovers and spouses who came out of closet in the 90’s with the Clinton White House as so many important figures did, our Divine Miss Ellen for one, and have been slowly and steadily moving along the cause for equal rights and protection under the law for all human beings, black, white, gay, straight, poor, disenfranchised, etc. much as she has been doing only with a harder edge towards gay rights as she has towards sexually abused women, having been one herself.
Even Oprah with all her power has not been able to sway the mighty Republican led President and Senate to move on any of the issues closest to her heart until out of the corner of her eye in 2004 she sees an up and coming young Senator from her home city of Chicago and begins to bend his ear. She spots in him what many others have – a sense of duty, an intelligence, a leadership, a potential to greatness and aligns herself to this shooting star as one of his closest friends and supporters. This is a lucky get for a young politician for gay or straight rights, THIS IS STILL OPRAH!!!
As always, Gail is by her side for every meeting interjecting the political discussions with real life equality issues of the utmost importance to the two. As it is today, Gail is the editor-in-chief of O! Magazine and instead of their only being a picture of Oprah on every cover, since 1993 when they came flying out of the closet door, every picture has the mighty Oprah in the foreground with Gail in the background, each picture an Annie Leibovitz-worthy piece of art. The decision to change to this format was made by Oprah to change the country’s view of her from only strong black woman, incest survivor, philantropist, talk show host extraordinaire to include gay and proud without a flinch from the American people and by 2008 the subject was moot.
That hot young Senator from the great state of Illinois was now a serious contender for President of the United States and the entire gay community felt the electricity of change weighing heavy in the air. By election night, a storm had been brewing that the only thing possible was CHANGE. President Barrack Hussein Obama was elected to the highest office in the land and Oprah Winfrey and her partner, Gail King, had been assured that this administration would bring with it the support from the top Gay Rights legislation needed to be put into law. What a sweet day Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 was as a proud friend watched an Inauguration she would never forget.
It was in the early months that President Obama really shone. Ms. Winfrey and Ms. King were invited to the White House as the Partner’s Benefits Act of 2009 gave all the same rights and privileges married partners of Federal employees receive to domestic partners, including same sex couples.

Before the Congress was able to settle in to their partisan roles, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was struck down, leaving nothing in its place to bar opening gay men and women from serving in every branch or the military or National Guard. Oprah dedicated three shows to former military members previously discharged under the ban who were prepared to re-enlist and head off to war in Afganistan in support of country.
Last and certainly not least, the Federal Hate Crimes Bill, a bill that had been sitting in committee or dying a swift death each time it came up for a breath since 1999, a few months after Matthew Shepard’s horrible death on a fence post in rural Colorado, was passed in both houses an enacted into law. All of this occurred in President Obama’s first months’ in office. The gay community sits with baited breath as the idea of marriage for all weighs in at the federal level.
Did Oprah have something to do with all this? Well, since this is my fantasy and we all know only one of these things even remotely happened and no where near in the magnanimous way I described, I’d say if Oprah and Gail were a couple, it would make a huge difference in today’s political landscape.
The problem is, President Obama has roughly two more years (that last year is spent trying to get re-elected) of service and all polls are showing that the republicans are staged to take over the legislative branch like they did in President Clinton’s presidency making passing his policies for change virtually impossible without bi-partisan support. Since gays and lesbians have virtually no bi-partisan support to speak of, GET ON WITH YOUR CAMPAIGN PROMISES, SIR. YOUR CONSTITUENTS ARE WAITING.
Much Love.
Inspired by Sappho’s Muse.
MUSIC OF THE DAY
We’ll start out with the reality that the only way that Gail is Oprah’s secret girfriend is if she had been in a coma all these years and there we have our first song, Girlfriend In A Coma by The Smiths. The second was released yesterday and is the re-released version of WE ARE THE WORLD by a cornucopia of stars, some new and some from the first version. Rush out and download the video from iTunes. It’s wonderful!
QUOTES OF THE DAY
Don’t back down just to keep the peace. Standing up for what you believe in builds self-confidence and self-esteem.

Who to blame?: christians attack vodouists in Haiti

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

An AP story dated 2/23 reports that a group of vodouists gathered in Cite Soleil last Tuesday to conduct a ritual to “guide lost souls.”   They drew veves and prepared offerings.  They prayed and sang.  Then they were attacked.  According to the article, “…a crowd of Evangelicals started shouting. Some threw rocks while others urinated on Voodoo symbols. When police left, the crowd destroyed the altars and Voodoo offerings of food and rum.”
Who do you blame for a natural disaster that kills hundreds of thousands and leaves a million people homeless?  You can’t blame God, who everyone knows would never do such a thing.  Must be Satan, or those like him - like vodouists.  They’re the ones Pat Robertson meant in his “pact with the devil” remarks.  Right?
“Much of this has to do with the aid coming in,” said Max Beauvoir, a Voodoo priest and head of a Voodoo association. “Many missionaries oppose Voodoo. I hope this does not start a war of religions because many of our practitioners are being harassed now unlike any other time that I remember.”
Apparently some christianists see the earthquake as an opportunity to wipe out vodou:

“There's absolutely a heightened spiritual conflict between Christianity and Voodoo since the quake,” said Pastor Frank Amedia of the Miami-based Touch Heaven Ministries who has been distributing food in Haiti and proselytizing.
“We would give food to the needy in the short-term but if they refused to give up Voodoo, I'm not sure we would continue to support them in the long term because we wouldn't want to perpetuate that practice. We equate it witchcraft, which is contrary to the Gospel.”

I gather from this that withholding aid from people when they are most in need is not contrary to the gospel.
However, if centuries of oppression couldn’t eradicate African religion in the Americas, the stone-hearted christianists don’t stand a chance.

Tali, reporting in from Hawaii.
I'm alive and okay, and not particularly worried about the Tsunami except for the fact that one of my boys is in Waikiki wrangling panicked tourists and likely will be until well after the waves hit.
Phone connection is sporadic thanks to all the panicked phonecalls we're getting from the mainland, but other than that, things are pretty normal in this household.

She is too good for her

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I never intended to write a blog about this. But I’ve met this girl from the Philippines, Susy, she is a single mom. I liked her since the very first day I saw her, we always hang out with a group, drink some beers with friends, always have a good time. When I told her how I felt she said that it’s been ages since she get into a sex relationship and she is not that sure if she’s still into it. So I respected her reason, thinking that she maybe one day feel a thing to go back to a relationship. A lot of men woo her, but she doesn’t seem to be interested. I cant blame them, she’s hot, intelligent, mature and on top of it a very true friend to everybody, but as she always says “a relationship isn’t for her”. A year or two passed and we are still good friends till the day I was shocked with a news…
She has a girlfriend.
When I asked her if the news is true, she casually said “yes”. I was hurt; I believed her reasons and felt like she betrayed me. So I fished around and when she finally got my point she told me that her girlfriend was from her past. They met on a social network, had some lines to talk about and then one day she fell in love with her. Bad news is… it’s a long distance relationship, since her girlfriend is from the east coast, San Francisco. Talking about adding insult to an injury. How can the almost perfect girl for me could love somebody else from a social network in a long-distance relationship, when I was just here sitting beside her, laughing with her in person? How can she ignore me?
Months passed and I learned that they broke up, like the usual long distance, her girlfriend betrayed her and dumped her for somebody else, worst is that she did not know at first and found out on her own. Susy was so devastated. She may appear strong to us, her friends, but whenever a split of silence breaks in, something in her eyes that says, she is hurt. A bad hurt this time. I offered friendship to her and she said to me, how can she be so stupid to believe that it will work for them? I think she knew I am still in love with her. I hate her girlfriend. She doesn’t t seem to know how lucky she was, how I envy her so much that the most precious woman for me is in love with her? How childish and immature to fool the one I truly admire.
After a while, I went back to NY. A common friend of us told me that Susy and her girlfriend got back together. I tried to call her, to ask her, emailed her. But she never replied. I wanted to say that she doesn’t deserve her. She can look around, she deserves more, even it’s not me. But not her.
I’m here now in NY, Soon Ill be back in the Philippines, I want to talk to her, but how? Yah, she looks so happy with her, I saw their pictures. Susy really loves her. I wish she can fall for me too, I hope she can see me the way she sees her…
Don’t get me wrong, I moved on. It’s just that whenever I remember her, whenever I see her, my feelings rekindle. She never hurt me, she was just true. But she did not give me a chance, (or I did get my chance?) She was nice to me, I never felt dumped by her; she was and is a friend till the end.
I just hope I can find her in other people. Or find her again in another time. She may hate me for this, but I still believe that she doesn’t deserve her. I know it may not be me… but most definite is that… it’s also not her!
Fact is I’m still in love with Susy.
Please help me.

NOM’s Maggie Gallagher Supports & Admires Killing Gays

Friday, February 26th, 2010

We all know Maggie Gallagher makes her living off of peddling anti-LGBT hate with the National Organization for Marriage.  She claims she's just “saving marriage from the evil gays” and that she doesn't hate us.  Sure she claims that we out to recruit kids, indoctrinate them in schools, and destroy them by being parents, but that's just a little political difference, right? She's Miss “warm and fuzzy” homophobia, especially if you see the media coverage of her.
Well, Maggie G let that mask slip a bit and we got to see what we all know is lurking underneath.  Gallagher has comes to the defense of (shocker!) Miss Faux Beverly Hills Lauren Ashley, who not only said gays shouldn't marry, but trotted out the old Leviticus Bible verse saying gays are an abomination and should be killed.
Maggie Gallagher has endorsed and supported Lauren Ashley:
I'm not surprised that Miss Beverly Hills, Lauren Ashley, opposes gay marriage — after all 45 percent of young Californians voted for Prop 8, as did 7 million Californians generally. But I have to say, I am impressed with her courage in coming forward and for speaking up for Carrie. The elected officials of city of Beverly Hills are not demonstrating tolerance or kindness by continuing the avalanche of hatred against supporters of Prop 8.
While Gallagher may want to gloss over what Lauren Ashley really said and just make her a “traditional marriage” martyr like Carrie Prejean before her, she doesn't get to.  A reminder on what Ms. Ashley said:
The Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman. In Leviticus it says, 'If man lies with mankind as he would lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death and their blood shall be upon them.' The Bible is pretty black and white.  I feel like God himself created mankind and he loves everyone, and he has the best for everyone. If he says that having sex with someone of your same gender is going to bring death upon you, that's a pretty stern warning, and he knows more than we do about life.
She's right. It is pretty “black and white.”  Ashley said GAYS SHOULD BE PUT TO DEATH.  By endorsing her and saying you are “impressed with her courage”, especially without disavowing her call for death to gays, you are doing the same thing, Maggie.
Not so warm and fuzzy now, is she?
This isn't about Prop 8 or marriage equality.  It's about a publicity-hungry young woman trying to get her 15 minutes of fame by saying gays should be killed.  Wrap her in good Christian martyrdom if you'd like, Maggie Gallagher, but she made her point very clear.  As have you.
So the next to you carpetbag yourself into a state to peddle your wares of anti-equality hate and fear-mongering with a smile, Maggie, I hope this moment follows you.
You don't get to pick and choose or rewrite the history of what someone like Lauren Ashley said or stands for.  You support and admire a person that thinks “having sex with someone of your same gender is going to bring death upon you.”
It doesn't get much clearer than that.
As I said before, you don't get a pass on this, Maggie.  You can't use a call to death for LGBT people as a political bumper-sticker without staining yourself with it.
